An Alliance of Friends
Partners
Erni’s partner in Perron de Mypont is Manoël Bouchet, a highly respected wine professional and Burgundy denizen with deep expertise in the region’s terroirs and winemaking heritage. United by a shared vision, they produce wines that honor Burgundy’s culture and traditions while applying a thoughtful, modern approach to quality and value.
Their work spans two distinct but complementary winemaking approaches. For the Maison wines, Erni and Mano operate within the Burgundy Négociant framework using a hands-on, custom-crush model – working directly with grapes and guiding vinification, rather than simply sourcing finished wines. For the Edition wines, they take a Parcellaire approach, collaborating closely with growers and individual vineyard parcels to capture the specific character of each site.
Together, these methods allow them to maintain precision, integrity, and consistency across the full range of the collection.
The Beginnings of a Global Friendship
The friendship between Ernst (Erni) Loosen and Manoël Bouchet began in 2012 at a masterclass in Miami, Florida. The two quickly realized that they shared a deep appreciation for exceptional, expressive wines. This was no coincidence: Erni has always had a great passion for the wines of Burgundy, while Manoël produced such wines as a partner in a renowned négociant and winery in Beaune and imported them into the US through Erni’s company, Loosen Bros. USA. From then on, they met regularly to discuss their favorite topics: great wines, their origins, and traditions.
When Erni acquired and beautifully renovated a portion of the historic Vieux Château de Puligny-Montrachet in 2019, long-held dreams of producing wine in Burgundy began to take shape. Fortuitously, Manoël was also considering a career change at that time. And so, they both asked themselves: “Why don’t we do something together?” And so they did: With their extensive experience and a shared vision of winemaking that combines tradition and modernity, they embarked on an exciting new adventure together.
A New Chapter in Burgundy
Their collaboration began under ideal circumstances. New times are dawning in Burgundy, driven by changing climatic and economic conditions. Personalities like Erni, an experienced winemaker who has successfully shaped this transformation not only in the Mosel region, but also in the USA and Australia, and Manoël, who also possesses extensive experience and a vast network in Burgundy, form a perfect combination to realize a new, fresh vision for Burgundian wine.
Their joint venture is not just about producing excellent wine but also about celebrating the roots, culture, and authenticity of the region while embracing the elements of friendship and convivality that make wine truly special.
